The VCI principle by BRANOguard

VCI stands for Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor. Active VCI substances are compounds which, in addition to their corrosion-protection properties, also have vapour pressure characteristics. As the animation demonstrates, these active VCI substances vaporize out of the carrier material into which they have been integrated until a protective atmosphere has been built up inside the packaging.

These inhibitors accumulate on the surface of the metal and prevent the metal’s protective passive layer from deteriorating and allowing corrosion to take place.
